Reelin' in the Years

Most people, when typing out their first blog post thing for a movie class, would choose to tell you about their favorite movie. Or possibly a movie they recently watched. You can get to know me as i talk about something different: the movie-goers experience. Going out to the movies is an experience in and of itself. Movie itself aside, the experience changes depending on who you're with and how old you are. As a young boy I remember going out with my parents and sister (Bennett I do not look like her) to see a quality disney film. Disney films are excellent for this type of occasion, they posses something for all age groups.
The years wore on and going to the movies with your parents became no longer cool. Middle School introduced me to an entirely different movie going experience. Going out with friends and hanging outside the Atrium for no reason other than we had nothing better to do. It was while i was in middle school that i first started seeing R rated movies in the movies. How you ask? We started sneaking into movie theaters from the back or even paying hobos to walk in and buy us tickets. Real badass stuff.
sometimes you might go to a movie on a date too. thats an entirely different experience. You'd usually be kind of retarded to watch the whole movie while on a date, though i wont get into my memories there. Going to the movies is just as much about spending a day out as it is about the movie itself. Ultimately it is a developed and cherished aspect of American Culture.

  1. Last night, I wrote a long comment on this post, and it got erased. I can't rewrite it, but suffice to say I agreed with your point about the film experience. It's hardly comparable to watching on TV at home. In the theatre, we are forced to give the film a chance. At home, we just get distracted too easily.

I commented on your sister, as well. I insulted you roundly, but tonight I'm feeling kinder. You are both very nice looking. Fortunately for her, she's better looking than you. But, you won't have any trouble getting a prom date. The two of you don't look alike, but there is a family resemblance.

I like the fact that you brought a rather different aspect of film and wrote about it so thoughtfully.
